The Religious Education Committee - The purpose of this committee is to reflect on how well or how poorly we are carrying out this important function of parish life. Here are some of the questions I hope the members of this committee will be examining.
What positive thoughts do you have about our Religious Education Program?
What negative thoughts do you have about our Religious Education Program?
We are the only parish in the city that doesn't have religious education on Sundays because most of our parents opted several years ago to continue our Tuesday afternoon and evening program. While keeping the Tuesday program in tact, should we also offer religious education opportunities on Sunday mornings?
How are we here at Sacred Heart Parish going to become more aware of our responsibility to take charge of the program? My goal is to have smaller classes which means more teachers. Teaching religious education is not the easiest thing at times, but it certainly is most important.
How strict should I be as pastor with regard to what I ask of every family -namely- that because young people need two wings like the bird in flight, and this means class time and Mass time should we discourage registration for class time if that child never has any Mass time? Think over these questions and let our committee know your thoughts by dropping a note to the pastor.
