Liturgical Choir
The Contemporary Choir serves at the 9 AM Mass, with a liturgical music focus on contemporary styles, such as folk, spirituals, and jazz. As Sacred Heart’s largest choir, upwards to 30 members, the choir incorporates music of different cultures with varied instrumentation, including guitar, trumpet, violin, percussion, and more. Rehearses Thursday evenings, 7:30 – 9 PM.
Children’s Choir
The Children’s Choir serves at the 9 AM Mass, once to twice a month, filling a very important service role for our young people within the liturgy. Singing both classic and contemporary songs, this energetic choir is open to all children 2nd grade and up. Participation in Sacred Heart’s Religious Education program is encouraged, but not required. Rehearses Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:00 PM.
Season Handbell Ensemble
Our Seasonal Handbell Ensemble is open to all parishioners, children and adults. As the name indicates, the handbells enhance our Advent, Christmas, and Easter seasons. This has been a great opportunity for families to serve our liturgies together! No experience is necessary. Pleased contact Frank Medlar at frank@appliedcreativethinking.com.
Cantors and Instrumentalists
If you have a desire to lead our congregations as a Cantor and Psalmist, or to play your musical instrument at any of our masses, please speak with JoJo David to set up an appointment.
For more information on any of these opportunities, please call (617) 552-2403, send an e-mail to music@sacredheart.ws, or speak with members of any of the ensembles!
