PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

The prayer shawl ministry is an outreach program which aims to bring comfort to those who are ill or confined to home by giving them a handcrafted shawl made by parishioners. Members of the prayer shawl group meet monthly in homes to pray for healing and comfort as they knit or crochet the individual shawls. Some members of the ministry create shawls in their own homes as they themselves are unable to get out.

The shawls are delivered to individuals at home, in the hospital, at rehab facilities, or in nursing homes as the need arises. Each shawl is chosen with the recipient in mind and is tagged with the name of the individual crafter and accompanied by a prayer.

Anyone wishing to join the group of crafters is encouraged to contact Peg Miller at the rectory office 617-969-2248 or by email peg.miller@sacredheart.ws. Even beginning knitters can participate as we have patterns for various skill levels.

Should you become aware of a person who is in need of the comfort that a prayer shawl or lap robe could provide, kindly contact Fr. Connelly or Peg Miller with the name and location of the individual.
